Slacking on our blog

I have been a total slacker on this blog for the last two months! No guilt though ... just other stuff going on. There are quite a few things to catch up on ...

FIRST BIGGIE ... Last week Taylor got laid off from his job. That was a big bummer, but with the economy the way it is and so many companies struggling, it's understandable. I think we were prepared for being able to handle this and I know there is a great job out there for him which will be able to meet all of our needs.

If you know of a great company that needs a computer guy ... let me know! Taylor was working as Senior System Administrator, so for now we are working to find something similar. Or even some temp work while he's looking for a job, that would be awesome too!

SECOND BIGGIE ... I have started a new part time job this week. It's for UGA or Utah Genealogical Association. My Mom is on their board and told me about it. I am the administrative assistant and will be working part time from home do emails, returning calls, processing payments and so forth. The hours are totally flexible and allow me to keep my priorities and still do the things that are important to me.

In other news, Aubrey is getting ready to turn 9 on the 25th. She has been awesome about the job lose. I told her that until dad gets a job, we can't really spend money, so there will not be lots of birthday presents. She said, "But we don't have to spend $$ to have fun Mom!" So now I am trying to be really creative and think of inventive ways to have a fun birthday for her without spending money. Any ideas?

Braden is loving having Daddy home ... and so am I ... if only he could stay home AND get paid! Braden is (knock on wood) doing pretty good with the potty training and aside from an occasional accident, has been doing great! SUCH a relief! Boy are DEFINITELY harder than girls in my opinion!

That's the gist of it for now. I'll try to get some pictures up sometime, but no promises!

Man! Sorry to hear about Taylor's job! That really sucks. It's happened to so many people lately. Hope things pull through alright. I'll keep my ear out! Good luck with the bday party!!

Carrie, you are so diplomatic, even in tough times. (You still are the only running partner I ever had who NEVER complained) I know you and your fam will get through this.

Onto the birthday party ideas. I've always found my best inspiration at One word of caution: many of the parents (i.e. overachieving Moms) that post have huge budgets (is that what they call it when they spend over $150?) and ideas, but I have found great ways to do them cheap too! Call me! :)

Geez! So sorry about the job situation. That's rough. I do hope he finds something for you all. Congratz on your neat job though. It sounds so ideal.
Hang in there.

Remember the time I was so disorganized I didn't bake the cake in time, so we just made the cake and decorated it as one of the activities. Kids LOVE to do this. I have sprinkles and candles if you need them.

Love you,
